Dream Room: Tales
of the Dixie Mafia is Chet's first book.
Dream Room is the true story of the Dixie Mafia, which is
sometimes called the Southern Mafia. Unlike the more famous Sicilian Mafia,
members of the Dixie Mafia were linked only by crime and not by family or
ethnicity. Their criminal activities included moonshine, bootlegging,
gambling, drug trafficking, dog fighting, burglary, prostitution, and
murder. They achieved the peak of their power between 1960 and the end of
the 1980s.
Chet earned a degree in English from Colorado
State University in Ft. Collins. For
the next seven years he worked as an investigator for a federal agency
involved in the national security program.
In 1984 he received his law degree from the University of Mississippi. Since
then, he has practiced law on the Mississippi Gulf Coast between New Orleans
and Mobile. He is married to his law partner, Gail.
Chet
is currently hard at work on his next book: No Level Ground
